Mousetrap
Classic Mousetrap recently revamped. Move around the board to gather your ‘cheese’ without getting caught in the ingenious traps. |
Ease to set up / learn |
Not the best place to start for this review as initial set up is tortuous. The kids got bored and wandered off. After the first time it is quicker but can still be fiddly. Rules are fairly simple to pick up. |
Fun Factor |
The kids have great fun with this. The contraptions are very clever and they love ‘flushing the loo’. Simple and easy to play, doesn’t last too long. |
Family Factor |
Great for the kids, and probably the closer to the recommended ‘age 6 upwards’ the better. Danger that the adults will get bored, especially with having to reset the tower trap all the time! |
Originality |
Must score well for the originality of the traps. |
Play it again |
It’s a classic that has stood the test of time, though adults might need some persuasion to play repeatedly. |
Build quality |
For a game that relies on the traps working build quality is essential. It scores well here as the traps are robust. Despite this you can’t guarantee they work all the time which can get frustrating. |
Educational |
No thinking, no strategy, no skill - but that’s not the point! |
Value for money |
Fair price given what you get in the box. |
Overall |
It’s one of those where the kids will be nagging the parents to play and the parents reluctantly join in. It has been around for years so has proved its popularity and is certainly worth a try if you haven’t played it yet. |
