Set up is simple - it’s worth sorting the cards and money to make the bankers life easier. Play is straightforward, roll the dice and decide whether to buy or not buy. Gets a bit more complex when you buy houses / hotels.

Fun Factor

A great family game with a highly competitive element, so don’t let it get too serious! On occasions games can run too long and younger ones may get bored.

Family Factor

The box recommends 8 upwards but younger ones can still enjoy the game. Not a lot of skill needed so children always have a chance of beating the adults. Great family entertainment.

It was THE original board game so must score top marks!

Absolutely. It wouldn’t have lasted for so long without the true ‘play it again’ factor.

Build quality

Hasn’t changed substantially over the years. Simple construction. Heavy use and little hands can mean the money and cards end up creased / torn etc.

Educational

Familiarises you with some London place names, bit of strategic thinking but not a lot more.

Value for money

Now that you can pick up the classic version for under a tenner this must be great value.

A must for any family. If you haven’t played Monopoly then buy it today - if you have then update your old version and try one of the many new themed versions of this classic.
