Monopoly
An absolute board game classic. Move around the board buying properties and charging rental when other players land on your property. |
Ease to set up / learn |
Set up is simple - it’s worth sorting the cards and money to make the bankers life easier. Play is straightforward, roll the dice and decide whether to buy or not buy. Gets a bit more complex when you buy houses / hotels. |
Fun Factor |
A great family game with a highly competitive element, so don’t let it get too serious! On occasions games can run too long and younger ones may get bored. |
Family Factor |
The box recommends 8 upwards but younger ones can still enjoy the game. Not a lot of skill needed so children always have a chance of beating the adults. Great family entertainment. |
Originality |
It was THE original board game so must score top marks! |
Play it again |
Absolutely. It wouldn’t have lasted for so long without the true ‘play it again’ factor. |
Build quality |
Hasn’t changed substantially over the years. Simple construction. Heavy use and little hands can mean the money and cards end up creased / torn etc. |
Educational |
Familiarises you with some London place names, bit of strategic thinking but not a lot more. |
Value for money |
Now that you can pick up the classic version for under a tenner this must be great value. |
Overall |
A must for any family. If you haven’t played Monopoly then buy it today - if you have then update your old version and try one of the many new themed versions of this classic. |
