A simple but very clever tile laying game. Place your tiles to build roads, cities and farms - position your players to score as many points as possible. |
Ease to set up / learn |
Set up takes no time at all. Absorbing the rules and different points scoring takes a little time but is worth it to be able to plan your strategy. |
Fun Factor |
More of a thinking person’s fun than the raucous type but great satisfaction to be had when you complete a city etc and get a good score. |
Family Factor |
The box says 10 and upwards but our 9 year old had no trouble with it. Brilliant for the family with just the right mixture of skill and luck to ensure there is something for everyone. |
Originality |
Not the first of these ‘designer’ type games but a brilliant execution of a simple and clever game concept. |
Play it again |
Definitely - because there are a fixed number of tiles you know it won’t last more than 30-45 minutes and every game is differet. If you want more there are expansion packs to add variety. |
Build quality |
Tiles are thick cardboard with shiny finish. |
Educational |
Really gets you thinking. Are you playing a long term strategy or short term - or maybe a mixture? |
Value for money |
This is not an expensive game and compared to the very high ‘play it again’ factor it must be very good value. Also, with the expansion packs there are always new dimensions to try. |
Overall |
This game has not been around so long as some of the classics but it’s brilliant mix of strategy and fun, plus the fact it can be played by the whole family make this a potential classic of the future. |
